Photo.
As many of you probably already know, there is going to be an solar eclipse on July 22 in Japan, China and the Marshall islands.
In Tokyo, we will be able to see partial eclipse upto 75%. So I’m gonna take a day off to shoot some photos.
I know there will be tons of people taking photos and vids of the eclipse itself but the coolest thing of eclipse will be the shades.

Pretty interesting. So you can pretty well expect those unranked applications are not making money at all. I don’t exactly know how iPhone user in States play with their phones, but I still haven’t seen a single iPhone user in Japan who plays game.
I see comuters play games either with their phone or DS/PSP almost everyday but not iPhone. I guess iPhone games are not suited in Japan. Some games require you to tilt the phone itself and I’m sure that’s pretty annoying to surroundings. While DS is simpler with a touch pen and mobile games only require single hand inputs.
So Apple should pull those gaming ads from TV. It obvious Gree and Mobage- Town will continue to overwhelm mobile game market in Japan.

Ever since I built this computer I threw in 4gigs of memory not knowing Windows XP x86 are only capable of handling 3.2GB of memory. So those left over memory has been sitting there unused.
I was looking for a way to use it and found this using google. I can’t read chinese so here is the Japanese translation.
Basically this driver will turn additional memory space into a ram-drive.
Its a ram drive so it can only store datas temporarily but very useful for photoshop and illustrator caches. So throwing extra on-board memory can be useful. Since any kind of driver has a compatibility issue, make sure to check out the user reports.

Finally got my package today! Seems like someone has been occupying all of the delivery boxes. Maybe I should send it to nearby convenience store which is a minute away.
Just swapped old keyboard with new smaller Apple Keyboard. First impression was not bad at all. You basically get the same ol’ feel: Its an Apple Product.
It works like a charm with Windows + AppleK.

Gathering some information about CS4. So Premier Pro CS4 supports Nvidia’s GPU acceleration. What about ATI!? Seems ATI is not in the game sigh.
The encode process using the Elemental RapiHD encoder on the NVIDIA Quadro CX took just under four minutes to complete while using the CPU-based Adobe encoder the process took nearly eight full minutes. The GPU-accelerated encoder has essentially cut the rendering time in half.
Just for a reference, with my PC (Core 2 Duo E6600) its gonna take 5,6 hours to render 2hours of HD video. But since my PS3 is sitting here not being played for months, maybe I’ll use CodecSys CE-10 to do the job.

As far as I know, many Japanese creative company is not rewarding their employee enough. Animators probably have the worst working environment. Its just amazing how they can make their livings. Bottom line, they have livelihood protection but depending on that is wrong.
I bet they also have loads of unpaid overtime just like anyone working in creative fields. Its hard to believe why animators are treated like shit while animation is accepted as one of mainstream business in Japan.
So question is who is actually making money? Ad agency?

Japan’s media is going crazy about the outbreak of group infection in schools of Osaka and Hyogo prefecture. None of people who’s infected has traveled overseas recently. Schools have been shut down to contain the flu.
At the same time there is an virus outbreak on the web starting in Japan. This virus(aka GENO virus) seems to use vulnerabilities of Adobe Reader and Adobe Flash Player. There is no need to panic but should update to the latest Flash Player and tick off Adobe Reader’s Javascript functions.
This virus infects through browsing infected sites. Worst is if you use FTP with an infected machine, it will manipulate your website into infected to spread virus further.

This is such a magnificient example of Advertising. These type of ‘realistic army involved’ ads can never happen in Japan.

Streetview has been controversy since its release in Japan. There seemed to be strong protest against the service thus Google is now re-shooting the streetview in Tokyo. However this time, camera height are lowered 40cm.
I believe streetview is a cool service but I don’t think it suits the culture here. People don’t like their properties shot without permission even though it’s legally okay. In any case, it’s always better to live above 2nd floor ain’t it!?
